In addition to the visit to the exhibitions of the castle, the group of children carries out with a mediator a workshop around the wool cycle.

Man and wool: a story that has been knitting for millennia! From the mouflon, a wild species without wool, man created the sheep, a species selected for the production of its hair.
To go from raw wool just shorn to a ball several steps are necessary. The objective of this workshop is to discover them by experimenting in a fun way.

The workshop takes place in 2 stages:
– the class discovers the material of the liana through touch and observation. Children observe its properties through small experiments. They associate hair samples with the animal from which it came.
– the children are separated into small groups to experience the different stages of wool processing: washing, carding, spinning, weaving.

The educational objectives:
– Experiment with wool work
– Discover and understand how we go from raw material to a ball
– Discover the tools of this craft

In addition for cycles 3 and 4:
– Discover the challenges of breeding, often far from the Epinal image that we have of it
– Understand that our actions and our consumption have an impact on the environment and our society
