About Us

In addition to the visit to the exhibitions of the castle, the group of children carries out with a mediator a workshop around weaving and cording with plants.

Learn how to make your prehistoric material with abundant, sustainable and biodegradable plant resources harvested from the surrounding mountains. Thanks to rope techniques, make your Cro-Magnon bracelet.

The workshop takes place in 3 stages:
- Through the example of Ötzi, a Neolithic man found with his equipment in a glacier in the Alps, the group observes that part of the equipment was made with plant fibers
- The children discover plants from which fibers can be extracted to make equipment, clothes… Then they distinguish the techniques of braiding and cordage.
- They make their bracelet out of vegetable fibres.

The educational objectives:
- Discover the plant materials used since prehistoric times to make equipment.
- Experiment with the transition from a plant to a fibre.
- Learn the techniques of making a rope or braiding.
- Understand through fiber plants what are the consequences of the transition from a society in autarky to a globalized society
- Understand that our actions and our consumption have an impact on the environment and our society.
