In addition to the visit to the exhibitions of the castle, the group of children carries out with a mediator a workshop around weaving and cording with plants.

Discover the fascinating world of weaving and rope with plants! Learn how to make your prehistoric material with abundant, sustainable and biodegradable plant resources harvested in the surrounding mountains. Using rope techniques, make your Cro-Magnon bracelet.

The workshop takes place around several modules with manipulation by the children:
– Recognition of different plant fibers
– The journey that cotton takes to go from the plant to the garment
– Carding of plant fibers
– The observation of part of the material made with plant fibers from Ötzi, a Neolithic man found in a glacier in the Alps
– Making a rope with a loom

The educational objectives:
– Discover the plant materials used since prehistory to make equipment.
– Experiment with the transition from a plant to a fiber.
– Learn the techniques for making rope or braiding.
– Understand through fiber plants what are the consequences of the transition from a self-sufficient society to a globalized society
– Understand that our actions and our consumption have an impact on the environment and our society.
