In addition to the visit to the exhibitions of the castle, the group of children carries out with a mediator a workshop around the colors produced by the plants.
Nature brings us a multitude of colors. But how to recover them? Are the colors of fruits, flowers and plants the same when they become paint? The objective of this workshop is to experiment with the extraction of colors from plants to transform them into natural paint.
The workshop takes place in 3 stages:
– The group discovers which plant materials can be used to make color.
– Through experiments, children test several techniques to extract color from plants. Then they add binders and modifiers to transform the texture and color of their paintings.
– At the end of the workshop, the children give free rein to their imagination and create their own work of art using natural paint.
The educational objectives:
– Discover and understand how plants can become paint
– Experiment with chemical modifications Create your own work of art
For cycles 3 and 4:
-Learn the difference between a dye and a pigment
– Understand how colors react with modifiers
