In the heart of the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve, the Lac Blanc circuit from the top of the Flégère cable car is a route with a view of Mont Blanc.
Route details
Description
Please note: in order to preserve the mountain lakes, swimming is now prohibited in the Lac Blanc and the Lacs des Chéserys.
From Chamonix Mont-Blanc follow the direction of Martigny on the road to Les Praz.
Departure from Les Praz de Chamonix. Park in the Flégère gondola car park. It is preferable to take the Flégère cable car which saves us an 800m climb without much interest.
From the top of the gondola station descend into the Combe de la Chavanne. Near the old stables, on the left, follow the track which winds up the slope and passes near the Chalets and Lac de la Flégère (2m).
Take the path under the Tête du Aubuy: it stretches, runs along a ridge (small lake) and joins the one coming from Argentière. Lac Blanc is reached by the side of a valley which flattens out. Allow 1h45 one way
Suggestion: descend via the very pretty Chalets et Lacs des Chéserys.
More information available at the Tourist Office or the Haute-Montagne Office and in our trail guide.
Please note: The conditions of the trails are subject to change, remember to inquire before leaving.
