This river is worth the detour for its waters classified in the first category but also for the mountainous nature of its setting, through which one takes pleasure in walking.
The black water of Vallorcine is a small torrential watercourse which has its source in France at the Col de l'Encrenaz, then passes through Switzerland to flow into the Haut Rhône. The course is the former fishing reserve of Vallorcine, managed as an active reserve since 2006.
The river is home to a very good population of brown trout, but they often prove difficult to lure, especially since the waters are crystal clear. Discretion and finesse are essential on this course.
