Maison Forte de Hautetour
The Maison-forte de Hautetour presents the exhibition "Alpine refuges. From makeshift shelter to high-altitude tourism" and also hosts a contemporary art program.
This old fortified house from the 13th century currently hosts the exhibition “Alpine Refuges. From makeshift shelter to high-altitude tourism", designed by the Dauphinois Museum in Grenoble. It is also the location of artistic residencies as part of the Contemporary Art Archipelago system.
For families, games and booklets are available at reception to discover the exhibition in a fun and enjoyable way.
The Maisonforte de Hautetour will be closed to the public between May 19 and July 8, 2024 in order to renew the exhibitions for the summer period.
This summer, two exhibitions will be visible:
– 160 years: the history of a company
– Imagining the mountain, 10 years of research and contemporary creations in Saint-Gervais.
The OQP collective will also be in residence at Hautetour, a restitution exhibition will be presented during the summer.
In future years, a new scenography will be created to reconnect with the history of the Compagnie des guides de Saint-Gervais, mountaineering and first ascents. The permanent exhibition on the guides is no longer visible today.
