Aire de décollage de Plaine-Joux
The Plaine-Joux site is ranked among the most beautiful in the world! Facing Mont-Blanc, it enjoys ideal conditions for discovering and practicing free flight all year round.
The Plaine-Joux site, accessible by car, is very popular with the general public who never tire of admiring the ballet of multicolored sails. Located on a south-facing plateau, facing Mont-Blanc, the aerological conditions are very favourable. The take-off area has been specially designed to accommodate pilots in wheelchairs, it is also one of the only approved sites for hang-gliding in Haute-Savoie.

Flight conditions: flights all year round, thermal in the afternoon.
Facilities: FFVL information panel, a webcam gives views of the takeoff on the website www.passy-mont-blanc.com, windsock, preparation of the sails at the rear of the takeoff area in case of crowds .
Dangers/difficulties: often very busy site, pay attention to flight priorities, flight not recommended in strong west winds.
Level: supervised beginner to cross country.
Landings: Passy-Chedde and Passy-Marlioz
Specific regulations: the entire cliff located to the north, from Pointe de Platé to the east, is classified as a Nature Reserve. Overflight is prohibited at less than 300m/ground. Mandatory landing at Marlioz for deltas.
Observations/dangers: favorable conditions with winds from the slope, flying over forests and scree. Deltas must land at Marlioz.
