Ascension du mont Blanc
The ascent by the 3 Monts: Mont Blanc du Tacul (4248 meters), Mont Maudit (4465 meters) and finally Mont Blanc (4810 meters)
– 1st day: – 200 m / + 45 m from the summit of the Aiguille du Midi to the Cosmiques refuge – 50 mins –
– 2nd day: + 1425 m from the Cosmiques refuge to the summit / – 1425 m from the summit to the refuge and + 370 m to go up to the top of the cable car – 13/14 hours
Leaving from Chamonix, the Aiguille du Midi cable car allows you to reach the Cosmiques refuge in 45 minutes: a shortened first day but a significant drop in altitude on the 2nd day.
The route is relatively physically demanding (the entire ascent takes place above 4000 m) and technical with sometimes tricky passages of bergschrunds (Mont-Blanc du Tacul – Mont Maudit) and steep slopes (pentes du Maudit and Wall of the Coast) which can sometimes be made of ice. The objective danger of falling seracs and avalanches in the Tacul and Maudit sectors should not be overlooked.
The descent can be envisaged by the same route or by the normal way of Goûter.
Mont-Blanc, long considered the culmination of a mountaineer's career, has wrongly become a consumer product over the years. It is becoming necessary to restore the ascent of this summit to its true value as an act of mountaineering and to redefine its different aspects: high altitude, physical commitment, essential technical skills, preparation...
It is strongly advised to call on a High Mountain guide.
