This lake is located in the heart of the Fiz chain, in the Sixt-Passy nature reserve. Accessible on foot only, either from Sixt Fer à Cheval on the upper Giffre side, or from Passy via the Anterne pass.
Altitude 2000m.
Covering an area of approximately 10 hectares, it lies at the bottom of a cirque bordered by peaks, to the north of the Fiz cliff. From the alpine lawns that surround it, the environment seems rather wild, but nevertheless populated by marmots, ptarmigan and ibexes.
