From October 21 to October 26, 2024, come and discover Broomball in the Pays du Mont-Blanc with no less than the world championships of the discipline! This event will see 8 world nations compete, for the first time in France, on the ice rinks of Megève and Saint-Gervais.

What is Broomball?

This may be the first time you’ve heard the name of this discipline? Don’t panic, we’ll explain everything!

Le broomball is an ice sport originating in Canada. Also called ice broomball and sometimes broomball (in English Broomball), it is played on a rink identical to that used for ice hockey. There are approximately 30 players in Canada.

Broomers (a term used to refer to the players) use special non-slip shoes (put away the skates!) and a broom to hit a rubber ball. Each team of broomers (6 players per team) works together to score goals, using their brooms to control the ball on the ice. The tactics and game play are similar to ice hockey. The aim is to score in the opponent's net as in the most popular sports: football, basketball, handball...

Accessible to all, Broomball appeals with its friendliness and simplicity, offering a fun alternative to traditional ice sports.

So you knew about this sport? 🥅 Today I'm testing for you a sport that is unknown in France since it only has 40 players spread across 2 clubs! If Broomball has nearly 35 members in Canada, the French barely know about it! So if you too want to discover Broomball, come to Combloux to train with the Loups de Combloux! Plus, we're hosting the Broomball World Championships in a few days on the ice rinks of Megève and Saint-Gervais, our neighbors! #combloux #broomball #sportstiktok #sportlover #hockeytok #hockey #sport
