Terrain d'atterrissage du Bois du Bouchet
Practice: delta, paragliding
Official landing in the Chamonix valley.
Official landing in the Chamonix valley.
Special difficulties: landing lined with trees. The terrain is large but it should be approached by staying upwind of the trees, especially those along the small access road to the gravel pit.
The valley breeze is generally strong in the afternoon (between 20 and 30 km/h).
Level: supervised beginners to experienced pilot
Serves take-offs from: Planpraz, Plan de l'Aiguille, Flégère, the Grands Montets and the Aiguille du Midi.
Specific regulations:
Landings at Le Bouchet and Le Savoy are prohibited by municipal decree when the alpine and cross-country ski trails are open: you must then land on the delta terrain of Bois du Bouchet, which is very turbulent and landlocked!
In this case, the paragliders must land on the delta terrain, 500 m upstream (north) of the paragliding terrain: beware this relief terrain is aerologically unhealthy and dangerous.
Find out more from the club, professional schools and information boards.
Flight conditions: all day. Watch out for the strengthening valley breeze at the start of the afternoon.
