About

La Croix de Fer is located at 2337m, overlooking Véran in the Fiz massif and is one of the peaks that dominate Sallanches.
Magnificent high-altitude limestone similar to that of the Tours d'Areu, for example.

Two magnificent climbing routes cross the pillar, which is clearly visible from the valley:
The classic of the "SW Pillar" (re-equipped) and "Neither God nor Master".
It's not the same style, but both are well worth the detour.

Very nice climbing in a superb and calm site. Very beautiful altitude limestone.
La Croix de Fer is one of the peaks that dominate Sallanches.
Two magnificent routes cross the pillar, which is clearly visible from the valley.

The pillar has two routes: The classic "SW pillar" (re-equipped) and "Neither God nor master". It's not the same style, but both are well worth the detour.

Environment:
Due to the altitude, climbing is only possible during the summer season.
The approach is quite complicated in generally steep terrain.

Rock :
Magnificent high-altitude limestone similar to that of the Tours d'Areu.

Equipment:
The classic route has been re-equipped: the points are quite close in the key pitches.
"Ni Dieu, ni maître" is a bit sportier but well equipped.

Pedestrian access:
From Sallanches, follow the forest road which goes up to the Véran refuge.
Continue to follow this track after the refuge.
Then climb directly above the Croix de Fer in the grass, up to a succession of corridors which allow you to reach the base of the pillar. These corridors are in steep grass and require attention, especially on the descent or when the grass is wet.
The Pillar SW is immediately above (when you emerge from the approach, directly above the beautiful pillar).
"Ni Dieu, ni maître" is a little further on the right. The route starts in a beautiful gray wall.
