The mountain museum evokes rural life in the mountains through the reconstruction of pieces of traditional housing and the presentation of ethnographic objects used in the past in the Chamonix valley.
PERMANENT EXHIBITION
The Montagnard museum has been installed since 1977 in one of the oldest houses in the town center of Les Houches. Through thematic rooms and three rooms recreated from traditional habitat, it presents a collection of objects formerly used in the Chamonix valley for agropastoral tasks and for daily life. Two rooms host the temporary exhibition, renewed each year.
TEMPORARY EXHIBITION
From July 1, 2023 to May 18, 2024: WORKS OF ART IN LES HOUCHES, 1860-2023

– tunnels, bridges including the emblematic Sainte-Marie viaduct, to facilitate access to
the valley by rail or road
