Combloux organizes its 1st soapbox race
On Sunday 11 September, the streets of Combloux will be transformed into a race track for the first soapbox race in the village, called “Les Loups du Volant”.
To take part in the event, participants first had to build their two-seater vehicle. A few mandatory rules must be respected for participation to be taken into account: the vehicle must have at least three wheels, a chassis, a steering wheel and a braking system. The pilot and his co-pilot must also be able to quickly evacuate the machine in the event of an emergency.
A vehicle check is carried out before the race to guarantee the safety of the participants. Soapboxes that do not follow the rules and represent a risk of accident are not allowed to participate.
Once checked, the teams will be able to reach the starting line before setting off on a secure 600m course to reach the finish in front of the Tourist Office. During the descent, the pilots will have to show agility to negotiate the turns and avoid going off the track! The race takes place in three rounds which will allow the regularity of each team to be assessed. The points will be cumulated with the public vote for the election of the most beautiful soapbox, the teams will be classified according to the number of points collected.
Spectators are of course welcome on the course to encourage the crews and enjoy the good-natured spirit of this event which extends the summer in Combloux.
