The lakes of Haute-Savoie as you have never seen them, from June 1 to December 30, 2024.

From June 1 to December 30, 2024, along the access route leading to the biotope body of water from Combloux, the artist Giandra de Castro will exhibit around thirty works created between 2019 and 2024 with the lakes of Haute-Savoie as their subject. These unretouched creations explore the reflections and movements of water for a unique and original result. In July and August, Giandra de Castro will lead guided tours which will allow the public to discover and understand the photographs presented in a different way.

Born in Brazil, Giandra de Castro developed a passion for art in France at the age of 12, inspired by the Impressionists she discovered at the Musée d'Orsay. Established in Haute-Savoie, she finds an inexhaustible source of inspiration in the region's lakes. His photographic works, devoid of digital retouching, capture the natural magic of reflections and movements of water, evoking varied styles ranging from impressionism to abstraction to surrealism.

Giandra de Castro uses water like a paintbrush, focusing on the textures on the surface of lakes after a process of prolonged immersion. She photographs in bursts, subsequently selecting the best shots. To preserve the authenticity of the latter when developing the RAW files, the artist studied chroma, fine art printing and also respects the strict rules of naturalist competitions, ensuring that no elements are added or removed, and that the colors are not altered.

The “À Fleur d'Eau” exhibition, free and open to all, invites you on a contemplative journey to the shores of Lac Vert, Lac des Contamines and Lac de Montriond, where reality is transformed into art. Resolutely anchored in the softness and translucency of fresh water, the photographs presented offer a renewed look at water, highlighting the sacred and primordial aspect of this element.

The biotope lake of Combloux

Opened to the public in 2002, the Combloux biotope water body was the first ecological swimming site in France. In 2022, this natural swimming pool was renovated to improve the comfort of visitors who can now enjoy a green beach with a view of Mont Blanc and bathe in clear water purified and treated only by aquatic plants. On certain summer evenings, the lake hosts events such as concerts, artistic performances, theatrical tours, and other performances.
