Let's set the scene: after a very intense morning of skiing, your legs were starting to warm up, your stomach was rumbling, your energy was running low... It was the perfect opportunity to go and discover the menu of the new food truck at Jaillet on the Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area : Point 5.

On the slopes, we like to have the choice between a gourmet break on a terrace and a quicker option to get back to skiing without too much delay. Finding something practical, tasty and at a reasonable price is always appreciated… So when we came across this pretty red food truck with a modern design and its burger smell floating in the air, we said to ourselves: “Ok, we might have a gem.”

A food truck facing Mont Blanc

Lunch facing Mont Blanc during a day of skiing in Combloux is an experience not to be missed. And that's precisely the first asset of the Le Point 5 food truck: a breathtaking view of the roof of Europe. Enough to make you want to extend your break... but don't worry for those who want to get back on the slopes quickly! Here, you can enjoy a burger or wings without wasting any time, while enjoying a decor worthy of a postcard. A quick but memorable stop, where delicious food and a view go hand in hand.

Point 5: ideally located and accessible

Point 5 is ideally located, right next to the arrival station of the Jaillet gondola. Whether you are in intensive skiing mode or simply a stroll at altitude, access is ultra practical. It is also a great compromise for those who would like to meet up at noon, even though they have opted for separate activities for the day. Skiers will be able to meet up with their loved ones who have come up on ski touring, snowshoes or simply on foot aboard the Jaillet gondola, for those whose mobility is more limited.

The Point 5 food truck is located right next to aJaillet children's playground, making it a perfect spot for a family break. While the little ones are having fun, you can quietly enjoy your meal without stress.

Thrill seekers can also enjoy the Giant swing, the giant swing at 16 meters high. Be careful, however, we advise you to do the Giant Swing before eating, it would be a shame if your burger came back up in the air!

Point 5 is definitely a great option for a quick and friendly break on the slopes.

But then all that is very nice, but is it any good?

On the menu at the Le Point 5 food truck: taste and local produce!

We tried the burgers: homemade breaded chicken for one, veggie version for the other. Any excuse is good to treat yourself, and we were not disappointed.

The bread, artisanal and soft, comes from the bakery La Choco in Megève, which also supplies the desserts. The steaks come from the GAEC de l'Arrondine in La Giettaz. The chicken comes from breeders in Rhône-Alpes and Haute-Savoie. As for the cheese, it's the local cooperatives: Val d'Arly and the Léon Rey cheese factory in Sallanches.

The breaded chicken on site is a great success: crispy on the outside, melting on the inside. And to accompany all that, the sauces – with the exception of the ketchup – are homemade, with a particularly tasty mayonnaise. The fries are nicely browned, perfect to complete the plate. As for drinks, we tasted a very refreshing Savoyard lemonade, ideal to end on a light note.

Verdict? We’re going to become regulars…

A burger and fries for €18: a generous plate, with carefully selected products. The quality-price ratio is there! It's hard to save room for dessert... but here's a great excuse to come back! If you're in the area, it's best to go before noon or after 13 p.m. to avoid the crowds. One thing is for sure, this food truck is already one of the good places to try absolutely. So, are you ready to succumb too?
