Gastronomy and Local Heritage Festival
For centuries, the Comblorans (the people of Combloux) have been considered Savoyard gourmets. In fact, in a not so recent past, they were known for raiding, in the dead of night, their neighbors larders and cheese rooms.
In keeping with traditions, a culinary reunion took place in 1997 to make known local cuisine and the more simple cooking of our grandmothers.
The Tourist Office was behind this action, offering numerous activities and events around our local heritage.
The exact contents of this years theme week have not yet been decided, but here is an idea of what took place in 2000 :
Guided visit of the village in French with Christine.
Farcement Competition from the different villages in the area.
Three local ladies from each of the 14 villages in the Land of Mont-Blanc are entered in our competition. A jury of cooks selects the three best farcements. The "farcement" was the Sunday meal of our grandparents. Made of grated potatoes, prunes, raisins, bacon, cream and eggs, all cooked in a special mold in a double boiler. It was cooked for 4 to 5 hours on the back of the stove, generally while the family was at mass. This local dish is usually served with ham and sausages and a green salad.
Free tasting for the public and folk dancing with the Tropé.
Old fashioned Market Learn more about our local products and pastimes of the area…rope making, spinning, coffee grilling…
Savoyard songs from our region, in the evening .
