70 000 years ago began the last glaciation called "Würm". All glaciers of the Mont-Blanc massif met and formed the wide Arve glacier which covered the whole valley. It carried a lot of granite blocks from the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif and left behind the moraines of Fayet, Domancy and Combloux while retreating.
